This may sound like a dumb question but what is a commonly misspelled
word or typo

I want to check the spell check feature of my program and see if it
works yet or not

Try Sattellite. (Correct spelling is satellite.)

You could also try:

1. unexcepectenly

2. unexpectantly

These words don't exist but you use #2 all the time. :)

The correct word is unexpectedly.

One other thing about most spelling checking software is that it can
only compare with whatever is in its list. These lists can often be
localized and a perfectly correct spelling can be shown as wrong.
This occurs most frequently when British spelling and US spelling are
different. In Canada we often use both.

For example:

favourite - favorite

behaviour - behavior

colour - color

cheque - check

A good spellchecker will allow one to add spellings to the dictionary
used.

Also when a word is used incorrectly, a spelling checker cannot help.
One that appears on the lists frequently is using "to" instead of "too".

Brian does spell it correctly in the body of the message. His client
may not check spelling in the Subject line. Mail does.
