I haven't tried it yet, since I'd rather get a tumor than deal with an
early release of a MS product. Are you having an issue? If you give me
specifics I'm sure I could help you sort it out.

Well, I'm doing my best to cause problems and it's actually ended up working
out "OK".

I am running a demo of Vista, and to make that worse, I'm running it in
Parallels. The RB 5.5.5 installer will not run. It gives a message
something to the effect of, "This operating system is not adequate."

I was able to get around it by copying the RB5.5.5 program directory to the
Vista system and it all seems to work well. I'm guess that not many
registry entries were created by RB 5.

I did have to give the user I'm logged in as full control over the RB5.5.5
directory so that I could debug unsaved projects. Saved projects seem to
work fine.

Hopefully this will help other people who continue to use RB 5.5.5...

Thanks!

Did you try running the installer with "elevated permissions"? I'm sure
you'll find a number of pre-Vista apps will require that.

Thanks,
Fargo

I tried running the installer as Administrator. Same error message.

I'm beginning to think this is a setting that was used in InstallShield to
create the installer. Since Vista didn't exist when the installer was
created, it doesn't see it as a valid operating system.

Copying the RB 5.5.5 directory from an XP install and changing the RB 5.5.5
directory permissions does seem to work fine, luckily!

Did you try to start the Installer as Admin in compatibility Mode ?
Do you have UAC activated/deactivated ?

I just tried it with UAC off and on. No difference.
